BAS-Ari Foundation

The gender equality concept is not yet accepted by all segments of society in our country. This fact causes women and girls to face problems in their families, education, social life, and labor force involvement.

Having qualified education is the most basic way for women and girls to be able to freely realize their own thoughts and desires, and to resist gender inequality as individuals, who are not taking the backseat in social and professional life.

Uneducated and nonprofessional girls work in low-paid, often uninsured and physically demanding jobs such as house cleaning, babysitting, and piece work at home. They often getting away from working life by marrying at an early age, and finally adopting the idea of ” a woman’s place is in the home “.

Girls should also be encouraged to receive education in areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), which are highly demanded in the labor market, and necessary social and economic investments should be made.

Education is so important for our children to create a more modern, more peaceful and egalitarian life in the future. Despite all the economic and social stability programs carried out in our country, the ever-growing and extremely costly requirements of education cannot be funded only by the state resources. In this context, contribution of volunteers is very important to support the problems and needs in our education system.

The BAS-Ari Education, Support, Technic & Relief Foundation is established in 2018 by defining its mission and vision in the focus of eliminating the disadvantages that our girls and women experience in accessing education and thus employment.

Besides being adopted the principle of confronting all kinds of discrimination, BAS-Ari Foundation believes in the necessity of positive discrimination until the obstacles and difficulties experienced by our girls in accessing education will be totally eliminated. The foundation aims to touch these girls’ lives with little contributions so that they never become CHILD BRIDES again and they can stand upright on their feet.

Within the scope of gender equality, which has been adopted as one the major social responsibility areas of the company, EDUSER supports the Foundation’s works through in-kind and financial aids. EDUSER’s managers and employees are also working in different positions within the foundation. EDUSER’s founding partners Aise AKPINAR and Izzet CEVIK are also the founding members of the foundation. Project Implementation Department Coordinator Tezay KARAGUL is the member of the Supervisory Board, and Project Implementation Department Expert Sezgin AKPINAR is also carrying out the Secretary General duty.

The Foundation established its own commercial enteraprise by 2020. In this way, it aims to generate income not only through donations, but also through commercial activities and services. In this regard both by donations and income from the commercial enterprise, and by benefiting from EDUSER’s experience and technical infrastructure, the foundation works on providing education, research, project development and management, and scholarships to strengthen the girls and women, and to ensure gender mainstreaming.
