Binbircicek Foundation

Binbir Cicek Training and Rehabilitation Foundation for Mental and Physical Disabled Children was established in 1993 to  provide early diagnosis and early treatment of mentally and physically handicapped children, by realizing their integrated education in kindergarten and primary schools, and by finally attending their vocational education and participation in society. It is a Foundation that plans to establish villages where these children can live.

Binbircicek Foundation was established to guide the families of disabled people, and to support the studies and building facilities, which can contribute to possible treatment of mentally handicapped children through enabling early diagnosis and early treatment.

With “Early Diagnosis”; the Foundation aims to determine the development levels and special conditions of children, who were confirmed as born with disabilities or with a risk of being disabled at birth or before the birth,  with valid diagnostic tests.

With “Early Treatment”; the Foundation aims to train experts about the proven technics applied around the world, applying the Montessori therapeutic education as an individual therapy — by supporting the importance of education is important as much as the pediatrics for treating children with disabilities — in the institutions to be opened, and besides enabling the individual therapies, the Foundation also aims to perform small group therapies for socialization of children.

With “Education”; the Foundation aims to provide early childhood education for the disabled children (between 0-3 years old)  in an environment, which is equipped with the materials required by Montessori pedagogy and with experts trained accordingly. Following their eraly childhood education, the Foundation also aims to create environments, where these children can recieve an education enriched by the combination of Ministry of National Education Programs and Montessori materials allowing them to develop their personal skills and reveal their talents within institutions that they determine their profession for the future. It is also aimed to help disabled people to find jobs in ordinary workplaces and in business areas, where other people are working, in order not to isolate them  from the society.

The Foundation, whose official establishment was completed in 1993, has raised awareness within the families of disabled people by organizing conferences and seminars with contributions of universities. Moreover, the core staff, who were going to train the personnels working at the foundation’s institutions, were trained accordingly.

The Foundation's Activities

The Binbircicek Foundation, which was officially established in 1993, has carried out the activities listed below so far in order to achieve the goals stated in the "Objectives"

  • In 1994, the founder and manager of the Munich Children's Center Prof. Hellbrügg was invited to Turkey twice and gave two conferences at the Istanbul University Medical Faculty about "the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention" and "the integration of children with disabilities".
  • In the 1994-1995 academic year, educators were sent to the International Course, which was opened annually at the Munich Children's Center, to complete the “Therapeutic Montessori International Course”.
  • In 1995, Dr. Drewniak was invited from Krakow-Poland to Istanbul for a conference-seminar. The seminar was held at the Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty.
  • In August 1995, a doctor, psychologist and child development specialist was sent to Krakow to receive training on Vojta physiotherapy and Munich Functional testing.
  • In October 1995, Professors Mutters and Wagner from the Marburg Early Intervention Center gave two conferences in Istanbul.
